Sergen Gül

Sergen Gul holds an MA degree in Chemistry Education from the Van Yuzuncu Yıl University, Turkey. He also studied Web Design and Coding at Eskisehir Anadolu University. For his MA thesis, he improved a virtual reality platform and researched Chemistry Education via virtual reality. This research was inspired by his work as a chemistry teacher, which followed his employment as a chemist at the Saff Chemical Reagan Company. Sergen has held three lectures at the 8th International Drug Chemistry Conference while his article is pending publication at The European Journal of Organic Chemistry. His most recent research examines organic synthesising, anti-bacterial agents, fluorescence activity and green chemistry.

 Between 2012 and 2017, Sergen also volunteered at the Turkish Roma Young Organization, where, together with twenty other Roma youth, he contributed toward preparing the first collective report summarizing the situation of Turkish Roma youth in Istanbul. His other accomplishments include placing 9th in an international photo story competition for his photo and story entitled, “To Be a Roma and Non-Roma.”

 Sergen is taking tutoring class in Environmental Science and Policy and wants to continue his studies in Energy Transitions and Climate Change at the Environmental Sciences Department, CEU. His aim is to be the first Roma professor in Turkey.
