RGPP students & Goncz Kinga

August 16, 2024

Before the academic year ended, our RGPP students had the opportunity to meet with Kinga Göncz, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, and CEU visiting faculty. As a visiting faculty member at CEU’s Public Policy MA program, she has taught countless RGPP alumni over the years. Kinga Göncz is one of those professors, like Violetta Zentai, Sarah Svenson,  the late Julia Szalai, or Prem Kumar Rajaram, who have been great mentors to Roma students during their CEU MA years. Her curriculum, much like her political work, reflects her strong alliance with the Roma movement.

This is what one of our RGPP students, Jozsef Bader said about the meeting with Kinga Göncz:

It was an honor for me to meet Kinga Göncz. She is a wonderfully inspiring and accomplished person. What struck me the most was how approachable and humble she was during our conversation. Though it was a short meeting, it was extremely meaningful to me and the group. We all wished we had more time; we would have loved to learn more from her.

This meeting meant so much to me. Years from now, when I look back on this meeting, I will use this story to inspire my future students and children, proudly saying that as an RGPP student, I was fortunate enough to have met with Kinga Göncz.

We look forward to our future meet & learns with Kinga Göncz and other inspiring leaders.
