Call for Applications for Study Visit at Christ’s College, University of Cambridge in the U.K.

Central European University’s Romani Studies Program and Christ’s College Cambridge invite applications from RGPP alumni for a one-week long study visit at Christ’s College Cambridge (http://www.christs.cam.ac.uk/) and the University of Cambridge.

The programme offers unique opportunity for two promising alumni to familiarise themselves with the academic environment and student life at one of the world’s leading universities. The program should be especially attractive for those who might consider applying for postgraduate programmes in the UK, and to Cambridge in particular; who would broaden their academic network; and who would like to benefit from the academic resources and libraries of the University of Cambridge and Christ’s College. 

The study visit will take place in Lent Term 2026between 28 February-7 March. The successful applicants will be accommodated in Christ’s College, will have the opportunity to attend lectures of their choice, meet students and faculty of the University and the College, as well as the College’s Admissions team to discuss what may constitute a successful application to Cambridge or other universities in the UK, and will have access to academic resources in Cambridge. Besides, they will be offered insights into the Roma Changemakers Initiative  and meet young Roma in the UK to share experience(https://www.facebook.com/QueenKatharineAcademy/posts/-we-launched-our-roma-changemaker-initiative-aimed-at-empowering-year-7-and-8-st/1144634834312788/).

Travel (continental flight, train between the airport and Cambridge) and visa costs, accommodation, and meals will be covered by the programmeThe successful applicants will also receive a modest ‘pocket money’ of 80 GBP.

 

Eligibility

RGPP graduates who 

are currently enrolled in an MA/MSc/LLM program or
graduated from an MA/MSc/LLM program after May 2022 or
are currently doctoral students/doctoral candidates.

Application documents 

1-2-page motivation letter (explaining how this visit will contribute to your studies/research, including whose lectures/seminars you intend to audit, what academic resources you are planning to use while in Cambridge, etc.)
CV
If you are currently enrolled in a master’s or PhD program, please send us a transcript of grades to date. Graduates of master’s programs not pursuing doctoral studies should send a full transcript of their master’s.

Applicants are expected to design the academic content of their stay (with the help of Prof. Gábor Betegh, Fellow of Christ’s College and an RGPP alumna/formerparticipant of the study visit).

Priority will be given to applicants who consider applying for master’s or doctoral studies at universities in the UK, and especially at the University of Cambridgeand/or those intending to pursue an academic career

After the study visit, successful candidates will share their experiences with the current RGPP cohort. 

This study visit is funded by Christ’s College and the Romani Studies Program and organised by Professor Gábor Betegh, formerly of CEU, now at Cambridge.
