Sergen in PhD at CEU

Another RGPP alumni starting PhD studies!

Sergen Gul, alumni from Turkey, graduated from RGPP in 2021. Since then he has been focusing on environmental research and Roma rights. We are proud to share that Sergen has started his PhD studies in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy at CEU. During his studies, he will be working with professor Tamara Steger.

Recently, Sergen, professor Steven, and another RGPP alumni, Fatos Kaytan have been working on a book manuscript titled “Anti-Gypsyism and the Struggle for Environmental Justice in Türkiye: ‘Amari Mahala’.” The book will be published soon by Amsterdam University Press, in collaboration with CEU and the Romani Studies program.
