Arnold is Hungarian and has a BA and MA in History and Philosophy from the University of Miskolc. In 2014-2015, he was part of the Roma English Language Program, and as a RGPP student he wants to prepare for a successful application to the MA in IR at CEU.
“My ambition is to become a student of the Central European University and with my acquired knowledge I would like to contribute to the success of the Roma integration.
After the secondary school I realized that I want to serve as a role model for my community, and I would like to participate in the struggle against the stereotypes and discrimination of the Roma. When I was studying in Szolnok I gained a lot of practical experience while of disadvantaged students, which helped me to recognize the necessity of the prepared and motivated Roma intellectuals.
I am dedicated to the theory of Open Society because, in my opinion, diversity is a real value. I gained experience of the power of diversity through the fellowship program at the American Embassy. That was the first time when I was working in an intercultural environment, where people had different cultural backgrounds and I understood how problems can be easily solved through different approaches. The understanding of the bilateral relationships between Hungary and the United States contributed to the development of my political analysing skills. After the RGPP, primarily, I intend to apply to the CEU‘s International Relations Department, where I would be able to use this knowledge and experience.
As a student of IR, I hope I will receive the answers to my questions. I would like to get a more detailed picture of where the place of the Roma can be in a globalized world and what possible ways and good practices exist. Especially, how can the Roma have their interests represented in the European Commission? Modernization, Globalization, Post Globalization, European Governance in the Global World Challenges to Open Society and other subjects of the International Relations Department can help me get closer to finding the answers.”
