My name is Maria Dumitru and I am 23 years old. I am a very sociable person so therefor I chose to study Communication where I could successfully enrich my skills and research intercultural communication by travelling, studying and working abroad. From a very young age I was involved in volunteering actions. Social issues are one of my interest particularly, the Roma Rights. As a result I applied for the Roma Graduation Preparation Program where currently I am taking tutoring in Human rights. In addition to that, the program fully supports me in pursuing a Master’s Program by offering mentoring, an intense English preparation and financial support.
I am part of a Roma community from Slatina in Romania. My community is the place where my home is, I feel deeply attached and responsible to contribute and improve certain areas. I was lucky enough to have strong role-models and I want to be the same for my people. So there for, RGPP is an important step ahead in striving for my aim and I am fully enjoying all the opportunities of this program by being part of the international Roma network, studying in a high quality educational system and exploring the multicultural environment. I am looking forward to be accepted for Human Rights or Gender Studies, the both subjects being extremely important to me. With such a professional background I can advocate and work for the Roma rights.
