I was born in Tashkent, in one of the former Soviet Union countries in a traditional Roma family. My love for knowledge was instilled by my mother since my childhood. With her inspiration I enrolled in Plekhanov Russian University of Economics in Moscow in 2005, after finishing my high school.
After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in 2009, I worked for some time in the economic and financial sector. Yet I always wanted to upgrade my qualifications by doing a Master’s degree in Economics at a prestigious university abroad. However, my knowledge of English language was not proficient, thus I was lucky to be enrolled in the Roma English Language Program (RELP) in 2014. One year later I joined the Roma Graduate Preparation Program (RGPP) which allowed me to further improve my English language and academic writing skills. In RGPP I could broaden my theoretical knowledge of Mathematics, Statistics and Economics due to tutoring classes offered by the program. This helped me in preparing myself for pursuing my MA at any international university abroad. Moreover, due to the fact that the program operates within the walls of a well-known university, such as Central European University (CEU) it also helped me psychologically and mentally to be prepared for future challenges. Currently I am doing my MA in Economic Policy in Global Markets at CEU. I see the Central European University and the Department of Economics and Business as a perfect space where I can improve my knowledge as an economist.
As a part of RGPP I was amazed by the way the lectures were organized at CEU and how interactive the classes were, the discussions that stimulated your critical thinking and, thus, increased deeper understanding of particular problems. This is why I decided to continue my education here. During my studies I am going to focus more on researching the development economics, which mainly deals with economic growth, improvement of such important indicators as health, education and workplace conditions and I would be happy to do this through the prism of Roma people.
