Arman Heljic Prisma Literature Prize Awardee

November 23, 2025

Earlier in November, the Prisma Literature Prize was awarded in Malmö for the third year in a row. The prize recognizes and celebrates queer literature across six categories. We are proud to share that RGPP alumnus Arman Heljic from Bosnia received the award for co-editing Queera romer och resande: Berättelser från Norge, Sverige och Finland (Queer Roma and Travellers: Stories from Norway, Sweden and Finland), edited by Arman Heljic and Solvor Mjøberg Lauritzen, and published by Dikko Förlag.

The jury’s motivation:

“For an inviting tone that welcomes the reader. For a listening respect that allows many voices to be heard – and leaves room for even more. For a visibility that makes clear that untold stories are also deserving of being told, and that queer historiography must be inclusive but not assimilating. Because the queer present needs to be broadened. Because queer futures must be allowed to exist everywhere. For its honesty in what it says and what it leaves unsaid. For its fine form that conveys much with modest means. For all this, and for even more, it is a joy to award this year’s nonfiction prize to Queera romer och resande: Berättelser från Norge, Sverige och Finland.”

After graduating from RGPP in 2014, Arman pursued an MA in Critical Gender Studies, and he is currently a PhD student.

We congratulate Arman on his achievements and look forward to seeing how his scholarly and activist work continues to enrich knowledge about Romani lives.
