Monika Mihaličková, RSP Visiting Research Associate (13 October – 5 November 2025)

Monika Mihaličková is a psychologist from the Czech Republic and a Ph.D. student in Psychology at Masaryk University. She works within the Brno Intergroup Processes Laboratory at the Czech Academy of Sciences, where her dissertation project focuses on developing and standardizing a diagnostic tool for psychologists and psychotherapists to assess the mental health effects of racism and discrimination. Her long-term goal is to contribute to the creation of culturally and ethnically sensitive therapeutic support for Roma communities, building space for education, respect, and care for the mental health and wellbeing of people facing prejudice and structural inequalities.

During her three-week stay at CEU within the Romani Studies Program, Monika will deepen her theoretical reflection on race, ethnicity, and antigypsyism, with attention to comparative perspectives in Europe and the U.S. Her planned activities include literature analysis, participation in seminars such as Critical Approaches to Romani Studies, and active engagement in academic discussions. She will also deliver a seminar on the impact of racism on the mental health of Roma, presenting  results from her qualitative focus group research.
