We are pleased to invite you to a series of roundtable discussions to promote critical approaches to analyze the situation of Roma. Roma have been an object of academic and policy inquiry for centuries; however, until recently, due to structural discrimination, few Romani people have been allowed to shape the discourses on themselves.

International and local awards to excellent former and current students of RGPP

The Award Ceremony was attended by Günther Oettinger (European Commissioner), Tomáš Petříček (Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic), Ivan Hodáč (President of the Aspen Institute CE) and Jiří Schneider (Director of the Aspen Institute CE). The second awardee was Do Thu Trang, a blogger writing famous blog ASIJATKA.cz about the Vietnamese diaspora in the Czech Republic.

An Alumni and a current student of the Roma Graduate Preparation Program (RGPP) were awarded last year for their exceptional work for the community. Michal Mižigár CEU History student won an international award, Jozsef Csendes RGPP student was awarded the Minority Award of the city of Miskolc.

Slavery, genocide, and resistance: pioneering inquiries into Romani history

The second roundtable discussion of the Romani Studies Program (RSP) was held on the 9th January on slavery, genocide, and resistance which allowed scholars to critically reflect upon contemporary memory politics and the way Roma minority’s involvement in various historical events was misrepresented or rendered invisible.
