Xhenson is coming from Albania, where he studied law and he is working on a thesis on “Legalizing, urbanization and integration of informal objects", looking at the impact the new law on regulating the legal status of the housing that are built during the transition period has on the houses of the Roma Community in Selita neighborhood in Tirana, that are not recognized by the government, therefore they are not treated for compensation or other appropriate solutions.
“During the academic introductory classes I found very interesting Public Policy that is related with the decision making in society. In 2013, I successfully finished my bachelor studies in Law at American University of Tirana. After my graduation I decided to continue a professional master in Civil Law. During these academic years I have studied many subjects and disciplines in Law field as Private International Law, Public International Law, Labour Law, Civil Law etc. My interest was more focused on the private rights and as well as in human rights and public policy.
My long term goals are related with the continuation of my second level university studies in the field of human rights and public policy. My experience on site and anywhere has reflected the strong need of capable lawyers who can represent the legitimate rights of Roma Community and of other vulnerable groups of the society. With my acquired abilities I have contributed in different ways in favor of Roma issue and I can mention here the already known cases of sheltering in Albania, case management of not benefiting from the public services, where it was a social so as a legal work. A master degree in the human rights field or/and public policy would affect in the strengthening of Roma youth in this direction.
I have been working in media and communication, running an online radio at IRCA, fields which inspire my interest and have served as an efficient mean to treat the community issue. RGPP will help me to better articulate the interests and concerns of the community practically on field, and also in mass media through the increase of written and analytic academic skills, by further developing critical thinking. I am keen on making my intentions and goals become real facts. I am contributing and I will continue to contribute for the community issues since I am characterized by the desire to study and to grow academically. “
