Alumni next steps

Our newest RSP alumni are taking the next step in their academic journeys - some are continuing their studies at CEU or other universities, others are pursuing professional development opportunities. This week, Vera has started the MA in Sociology and Social Anthropology, and Katinka has started the MA in Historical Studies – History track. Both Vera and Katinka  will be also Advanced Certificate in Romani Studies program students!

Simona Torotcoi, our public policy tutor and alumna recently was invited by Sejnur Memisi to speak on the Amaro Voice podcast. They discussed what RGPP offers to Roma students, how RSP contributes to knowledge production by Roma scholars and strengthening Roma voices in academic spaces and the importance of inclusive universities where Roma students feel seen and supported.

25 New Alumni

July 9, 2025

We closed a very successful academic year in June, celebrating 25 new alumni of the Romani Studies Program. Ten participants received the RGPP certificate of completion, and 14 students graduated with an MA degree—six of whom are RGPP alumni. 10 of the graduating MA students were also students of the Advanced Certificate in Romani Studies program. The MA theses will soon be available in the CEU library's digital collection.

Congratulations to Ina Majko, RGPP alumna from Albania!

Ina has been appointed as the Deputy Minister for Health and Social Protection in Albania! In  graduated from the Roma Graduate Preparation Program seven years ago. During her studies with us, Ina was already deeply engaged in the intersections of environmental equity and politics and their impact on the wellbeing of Roma communities.

On May 15, we hosted a hybrid event titled "Roma and Environmental Justice in Europe," . The event brought together scholars, activists, and students to explore the intersection of environmental issues and Roma rights.
